The Housing Initiative

In a Nutshell, we are provide Stable Homes which equals Stonger Famillies! TPDS INC and The Dwellington Group have partnered to build The Housing Initiative throught Orange, Seminole and Polk Counties.

The Housing Initiative is dedicated to providing safe, affordable housing for those in need, including some of our most vulnerable neighbors – low income families and individuals who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness, seniors, veterans, and adults who have a disability – so that they can grow as contributing members of our community.

We also provide supportive housing  the evidence – based practice linking affordable housing with individualized, voluntary supports; a proven solution for ending chronic homelessness. It helps people who face the most complex challenges live with stability, autonomy and dignity.

Since its onset, The Housing Initiative has served communities that often receive unequal treatment within the rental housing market: low-income households, persons experiencing and adults living with disabilities. Approximately 80% of persons served by The Housing Initiative in 2020 identify as Black, Indigenous, or a Person of Color. This figure reflects how decades of systemic and discriminatory policies have resulted in unequal access to housing and the benefits that come with it, such as improved health and economic opportunities.

We pursue racial healing through programs that meet residents’ most urgent needs and support their long-term goals. Through our collaboration with project partners we stabilize their need for shelter through affordable housing; develop resident-informed strategies to increase their economic mobility; and eliminate intergenerational poverty as a foregone conclusion for children raised in affordable housing communities.

We develop and implement and organization-wide framework that supports diversity, equity and inclusion with an emphasis on advancing racial equity.
